Organisers Alan & Donna were pleased that the National Roses Competition held at the Kingston Gymnastic centre for the first time went very well. Great thanks to Garry and Helen Winder along with Charlotte who was a huge help in setting up and closing down the event. Julie the centre manager was also great and on hand through the day. To Kingston and its staff, thank you.
The event is a charitable event and without all the judges and there were plenty of them many impartial to the clubs taking part to each and every judge again many thanks indeed for making the Roses possibly the most fairest judges competition on the circuit.
Each Rose level has set moves which the gymnasts must perform to gain the score, any additional moves put in that are not within the set will be deductible and not counted, these rules help make the Roses such an enjoyable event and it is now 10 year's in and the judges all know how to judge quickly and fairly.
Volunteers on the doors and on on the stalls as well coaches who came and gave their time too for the children to have a good day, thanks to each and everyone of you. Gareth Tyzack did a most brilliant job on the music and PA, helping create a good ambiance. It's difficult to give it that buzz we had at the old Benchley centre as the audience are more detached but nevertheless the children thought it was excellent, so we have to be pleased with that. The Roses now has its own podium built By Glenn Gamotis and made flashy by Kevin Gibbs....just a finishing touch that seemed to go down well.
The top 3 places names and clubs is being worked on and will be posted on this news page in due course, with nearly 300 gymnasts and 6 pieces of equipment it takes some time to do by hand.
We were blessed to have Alan's good friends from Texas attend the Roses and they are all now back home and with them not only some wonderful memories but the treasured Group floor trophy they won. Arabian came 2nd.
The club would like to thank DE photos for being in attendance and also Paul Seaby.
