All the
equipment that we have out in the fun Tinkers classes, stays out. However we do
put away the tents and the tunnels as we try to teach the children to be a
little more important.
The children are left with the staff for
the 60 minutes whilst you the parent/guardian goes to the café for a
well earned cuppa and a chat. Or you can even go to the fitness suite for a work
out to help your own fitness whilst your child is being
taught.
The children are gathered on the floor for the
register to be taken.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY HAVE VISiTED THE BATHROOM BEFORE THE
START!!
They then do a little warm up and learn to climb around the
soft play all the same direction. They are taught to do it without falling about
and we to try to get them to feel their
balance.
After this they will often do some forward rolls on the floor ( the
correct way, as they always know best!) Then they are placed into a small group
of between 5 and 7 and they are taught the basics of gymnastics with a touch of
discipline as in waiting their go and getting them to sit and wait politely for
when its their turn. All in all it’s a superb learning curve for them and helps
them for when they start school.
The classes
are 60 minutes long and all children are normally selected for these
classes after attending a Little Tinkers class. This gives them the
chance to get use to the surrounds and the staff.

Gina Townsend, Helen Darling head the pre-school with super support from many other coaches
The job of pre-school coaches
is to help develop the child's confidence walking on the high balance beam,
jumping on the trampet from a run up and also rolls on the floor use of
springboards and work on the bars( always a favourite!)
The
most important issue is that the children have fun and enjoyment in trying the
sport and the equipment. If they decided to continue the sport after school when
they are slightly older, they will already have gained so much more than a child
who has had no experience. Its without doubt a huge bonus for children and we
highly recommend parents get their child into sport at the youngest possible
age.
Children need to wear leotard, which we sell, or tee
shirts and shorts will be more than adequate. Please ensure your child has
his/her hair tied back and wears NO JEWELRY.
Children who have their
faces painted at carnivals or shows need to remove it as
the paint marks the equipment and carpets.
